Hits and Misses: Beauty 2012

January 2, 2013

Happy New Year!  It’s a time to think about all of the wonderful things that are going to happen this year – economic stability, weight stability, clean closets, clean inboxes, etc.  But let’s not get ahead of ourselves…

Last week, I reviewed my favorite beauty trends of 2012.  In the interest of balance and, of course, a little snarkiness, let’s take a moment to reflect on the worst beauty trends of 2012.

  1. Stiletto Nails.  I have a hard time even thinking about this trend because it gives me the same response as nails on a chalkboard.  CRINGE!  And also – ouch!
  2. CC Cream.  The follow up to BB Cream, “Complete Correction” or “Complete Control” CC Cream apparently promises EVEN MORE benefits.  I love the idea of multitasking products, but this trend is starting to feel like a marketing ploy.  It’s hard to believe that one product is going to solve everything – although I look forward to the day when one product replaces my entire makeup routine AND makes me a latte!

  3. Dyed Grey Hair.  Ok, admittedly, P!nk looks pretty good with grey hair.  That said, she’s a beautiful woman and would probably look pretty good with no hair.  In general, this hue makes women look a bit washed out and, well, a bit scary.  I spend hundreds of hours and dollars to cover my greys.  You would think this would be a welcomed trend.  No thanks – I’ll pass for now.

See?!  This year HAS to be even better than last year!  There’s so much room for improvement!

What were your least favorite beauty trends of 2012?
