Before there was Beige

November 7, 2012

Over the past few years, nail colors have been going to extremes.  On one end of the spectrum, we have lovely grey’s and beige’s like OPI’s You Don’t Know Jacques.  On the other end, we have crazy neon shades and nail decals with leopard prints.

There was a time in the not-so-distant past that my go-to winter nail color was Essie’s Wicked, “a deep and dark creamy sinister red”.  Grrrrrrrr.  It was soon replaced by OPI’s Lincoln Park After Dark, a deep, velvety purple.

I have been seeing a lot of vampy lips on the runway and I’m guessing my old nail faves are making a comeback!  Apparently deeps reds and plums are back in full force!  They were all over the runway this season.

I’m not sure I’m ready to return to my all-black, brick red lipstick Winona Ryder “Reality Bites” uniform of the 90’s.  In retrospect, it was not a good look for me.  However, I welcome back my old polish pals Wicked and Lincoln Park After Dark with open arms!

Are you ready for vampy lips and nails?  How will you wear them differently this time around?

I got OPI Vampsterdam in gel yesterday and LOVE it. Darker than Wicked but redder than Lincoln Park. Kind of like Concord grape juice on your nails.
