Dry Brushing | Tones Skin, Stimulates Circulation, Reduces Cellulite! Hooray!

June 11, 2012

Dry Brush

Dry brushing is back!  It is a technique that has been around for ages, but has recently resurfaced as an essential step in your skincare regimen.

Why Dry Brush

According to Vicki Weaver Payne, owner of Eight Skincare:

“Dry  Brushing, – meaning not in the bath or shower – will change the health of the whole body.  Dry Brushing with a natural sisal brush is one of the best ways to cleanse the skin without removing the protective mantle of acids and oils. It gently and effectively removes the top layer of dead skin cells and deeply cleanses pores.

Benefits: smooths and tones skin, helps digestion, reduces cellulite, increases cell renewal, removes dead skin, stimulates circulation.”

Fighting Cellulite

We have heard a lot of claims about products that fight cellulite.  We did some research to find out the science behind dry brushing.  According to, dry brushing “pushes the body’s ability to eliminate toxins through the lymphatic system.  This elimination process helps break down fatty pockets, responsible for cellulite.”  Hooray!!

How to Dry Brush

This video, created by Vicki Weaver Payne, owner of Eight Skincare, is a fantastic guide to dry brushing and an introduction to the Eight Skincare regimen.  Eight focuses on rejuvenating the whole body versus most other skincare lines that focus on the face alone.

I love Vicki’s approach to skincare because it’s a simple, 5-minute daily ritual that leaves my skin soft and hydrated – and I’m always up for a good fight against cellulite!
