After Wax Care | MiN Solution 2

June 6, 2012

Bikini WaxingSummer is fast approaching and many of us have fallen behind on our waxing.  It’s time to take care of business!  If it’s been a while since your last visit to your local bikini waxtress, you may be a little more sensitive than usual.

What causes ingrown hair?  Long story short – your hair, due to shaving, waxing or sometimes just your natural curl, grows back toward the skin and penetrates it.  Once the hair re-enters the skin, your body fights it like a foreign object – hence the bumps.

Here are some tips and tricks to avoid those oh-so-unsightly bumps and ingrowns:

  1. MiN Solution 2 RollerballPick Your Wax.  I am a huge fan of hard wax – also sometimes referred to as cold wax.  This wax, vs. hot wax or strip wax, bonds to the hair instead of bonding to the hair and the top layers of skin.  It’s great for small, sensitive areas like the bikini line.  However, it’s not accurate enough to use alone for eyebrow waxing, where you’re depending on precision.
  2. Rest.  For the first 48-hours, post-waxing, you need to give your skin a break.  This is not the time to hit the hot tub or use harsh products.  You should also try to stay out of the sun since your skin will be extra sensitive.
  3. Exfoliate.  Gently exfoliate in the shower using your favorite sugar scrub.  I like KleanSpa’s Whipped Sugar Body Polish because it’s blended with Shea Butter.  It exfoliates tired, dead skin cells and moisturizes!  Exfoliating can also release some potential ingrown hairs before they cause irritation.
  4. Treat.  Wait at least 48-hours post-exfoliation to begin using a post-waxing treatment.  I love the MiN New York’s Solution 2 Rollerball.  It is a blend of liquid aspirin and organic spearmint to tighten pores and prevent redness – alleviating razor bumps, ingrown hairs, and general irritation.  Solution 2 can be used post-shaving or post-waxing.  It moisturizes as it cleans and protects against bacteria.  The best part about MiN New York’s Solution 2 is the convenient rollerball application – no need for cotton balls!  AND, MiN now offers a Solution 2 refill to save you some $$ while saving the planet.

Wax on.  Wax off.

I have a strange question about Min Solution 2. I have looked at all the reviews and everything hoping someone answered it but no such luck. I get a brazillian wax and am prone to really bad ingrowns so my girl just suggested this product and I started using it yesterday. My issue with it is that it smells slightly alcoholy. My question is; does it taste bad?

That’s a great question! I honestly can’t tell you for sure. My guess is that, by the time someone would get around to tasting it, most of the alcohol has evaporated. If you’re concerned about it, you can always rinse it off before anyone else gets near it.

I get bad ingrown hairs too. Given the choice between that and potentially tasting like alcohol, I would probably choose alcohol!
